Welcome to Bravo Theatre!

We are proud to announce our first summer season under the umbrella of the Fringe theatre, key west!

Bravo theatre is an ORGANIZATION dedicated to growth and education for children in the world of theatre.

Through collaboration with some of the top artists in our communitY’S theatre world, we are able to provide the children with a comprehensive learning experience that touches on all aspects of the theatre world.

our goal is TO give an adequate DEPICTION oF the process of production as well as providing a creative, fun, safe ENVIRONMENT for the kids to learn and grow WITHin themselves and in this art form.

Our TEAM

Penny Leto - director

Penny is the owner and operator of the coffee mill dance studio since 1983, since her arrival in Key west in the late 70’s she has been a performer and choreographer in all of the theatres in town, as well as original member of for the fabulous spectrelles. as a life long educator she has taught theatre and dance in almost all of the schools in the lower keys, as well as with keys kids. she was one of the original creators of bravo and has been with the project since it’s original incarnation in 2009.

Lauren Thompson - director

Lauren is a key west native and has been performing on local stages since her childhood. she moved back in 2017 and has been working as an actress, CHOREOGRAPHER and director in all of the THEATREs in key west. she has been a COLLABORATOR with bravo since 2010 and, like penny, also works throughout the year with different organizations and schools to continue providing theatre education year round.

Ben Pegg - Sound

Ben is a florida based producer and songwriter. He’s been a sound DESIGNER for the waterfront playhouse, red barn, and the studios of key west. In addition to production work he is an accomplished guitarist and singer songwriter. He has been working with Bravo for the past 5 years and is a integral part of the team bringing his light sense of humor, work ethic, and skill set to our production lineup.

Kendall Cameron - Lighting

Kendall is technically new to lighting design but has quickly become one of the most sought after lighting designers on the island. her work is primarily seen with the fringe theatre though you can often catch her lighting something at the studios and tennessee williams. in her past life she was a school principle and brings her unique brand of teaching to the children of bravo theatre.

Jack Mcdonald - set designer

born in raised in key west, behind the scense of the red barn theatre, this creative visual artist has brought his unique brand of scenic construction to the group. as the set designer for the red barn theatre his WHIMSICAL illustrations, bright colors and shapes display his own brand, his artistic voice. we are lucky to have his talent SHINING through in the creative backdrops of our sets.

Rick Worth - set designer

self proclaimed master of all trades, rick worth has made his mark in key west over the past 30 years. instrumental in the creation of monroe county’s arts in public places development his desire to change the face of his island home can be seen in his murals, adorning the sides of BUILDINGS from key west to plantation key. with his studio work, FESTIVAL ORGANIZATIONS, and public art to fill his PORTFOLIO, we are honored that he counts bravo theatre in his list of artistic endeavors.

gary “sushi” marion - costume designer

Gary studied fashion design at bassist college and trained at Jansport. he has worked in nyc fashion week for 6 years for ohne titel and designed the infamous shoe for key west’s internationally acclaimed new years eve shoe drop. as a costume designer in the THEATREs here in key west for the last 27 years we are more than excited to welcome him to his first summer with our little bravo theatre family. his talent is a welcome addition to this years production team.

aramis ikatu - spot director

lighting designer, Camera operator, cinematographer, writer, actor, and singer aramis is our overqualified hire. but he brings his OVERWHELMING KNOWLEDGE to every task at hadn and we are so appreciative to him for all the help and support he provides to lighting these INCREDIBLY talented children.

rebecca tomlinson - fringe theatre’s artistic director

rebecca is the artistic director of the fringe theatre key west. with a phd in theatre she is also an accomplished director and actor herself. though she will not be involved with the day to day goings on of camp we are happy to have her wisdom and guidance as a sounding board between bravo theatre and the fringe theatre. This is our first year under the umbrella of the fringe and we are more than happy to have bothe the fringe and rebecca part of our theatre team.
